One of the UK’s renowned writers and philosophers, Professor Roger Scruton gave a lecture as a part of the series of the annual Eric Symes Abbott Memorial Lecture in Westminster Abbey on 26 May.

The Eric Symes Abbott Memorial Lectures are given in memory of Dean Eric Symes Abbott (1906-1983), a former Dean of Westminster. The Eric Symes Abbott Memorial Fund was endowed after his death by his friends to provide for an annual lecture on spirituality and pastoral theology.

The event was held in the presence of the relic of St Thomas Becket kept in Esztergom, the primatial seat of Hungary. The lecture was attended by László Kiss-Rigó, Bishop of Szeged-Csanád, Etelka Romanek, Mayor of Esztergom and Ambassador Péter Szabadhegy.
