Hungarian csikós and horseback archery performance at the 2019 Royal Windsor Horse Show

Taking place on the grounds of Windsor Castle, the Royal Windsor Horse Show is the UK’s largest outdoor premier equestrian spectacle graced by the presence of Her Majesty the Queen. This year the event celebrated the 200th Anniversary of the birth of Queen Victoria.

Following the initiative of the Embassy of Hungary the organizers of the RWHS selected the participation of Hungarian csikós and horseback archery experts for the Pageant this year. Six csikós horse-herdsman and a Puszta Five formation from the Mátai Ménes, plus the Kassai Horseback Archery School participated in the Show. Ambassador Kristóf Szalay-Bobrovniczky said that Hungary places emphasis on the equestrian traditions, and that this event was a successful initiative not only in terms of sport diplomacy but in country promotion as well. We were able to showcase the Hungarian excellency in equestrian sports and to display an ancient and less known face of Hungary.
